The VS600M truck simulator is modeled on a standard truck cab. It consists of a driver seat, a functional instrument and warning light cluster, a visual display, a motion / vibration system and surround sound. A range of truck models, engine performance, transmission configurations and payloads are provided. A new level of realism is achieved through the unique design and modeling of the manual transmission and accurate force feedback on the shifter and clutch friction point. The Multi Function Display provides the driver with a top view of the truck progressing in its environment, a real-time animated system schematic of the pneumatic brake system and a unique pedagogical aid to help shifting. |

The visual system comprises a 180° forward view plus rear view mirrors. A set of visual scenes reproduces city, highway, industrial, farmland and mountainous environments. Various road surfaces and weather conditions are included. The visual system consists of three high-resolution 52 inch displays each having 1920 by 1080 pixels. High polygon count and optimized photo-textures with anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering complete the high quality, stable, real-time rendering visual system. Drivers are now able to judge speed and distance more accurately. |

The motion / vibration system consists of a compact three-axis platform with electric actuators that provide acceleration cues, engine vibration and road feedback as a function of truck speed and road texture. |

High fidelity surround sound provides further realism with directional sound cues correlated with road conditions, engine RPM and speed. It also includes sounds from other moving vehicles and simulation of the Doppler effect. |
